Now, just in case you’ve not heard of Peter Alexander (I’m confident all Kiwis and Aussies have) here’s a little background… PA has been Australia and New Zealand’s sleepwear king for the past 30 years. Renowned the world over for his fun, fashionable and quirky sleepwear, millions of people jump into bed with him every night. Ok, not literally, but in a roundabout way, they kinda do.
Launching PETER ALEXANDER in 1987 by designing and packaging up pyjamas on his mother’s kitchen table with a $3,000 loan from his father, and later having to mortgage his mother’s house for $100,000 to grow the business, who would have thought that 30 years later, Peter Alexander would grow to a turnover of over $175 million with over 100 stores across Australia & New Zealand.
I’ve adored PA’s sleepwear for as long as I can remember and have quite literally grown up with him. Peter, the sleepwear king, has created numerous amazing collections over the years, but it’s not only his collections that he’s loved for, it’s also his love for animals (his beloved dog Penny has become an intrinsic part of his brand and features on many of his products) and what he’s done for numerous charities, including Paw Justice here in NZ and the RSPCA, for which he’s an ambassador.
Getting to meet him when he came to New Zealand a few years ago was such a highlight – there’s nothing better than meeting someone you’ve adored for years and discovering they’re as incredible in person as you’d always imagined – friendly, bubbly, so humble and just an absolute treat to be around.
